DAF, Ergon and Summa win SER Diversity in Business Award
DAF, Ergon and Summa have jointly won the SER Diversity in Business Award. The award was presented for the DAF Ergon Academy, an initiative that prepares people who need additional support for sustainable employment in logistics and industry.
With this award, the Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands (SER) aims to inspire society to invest in talent development and inclusion in the labour market. The award underlines the importance of collaboration between education, government and industry in creating opportunities for talent.
Additional support for those who need it
The DAF Ergon Academy was established in 2024 by DAF, Ergon, Summa and the municipality of Eindhoven. Participants gain practical experience at the PACCAR Parts packaging centre while also developing their Dutch language skills, workplace skills and logistics expertise through Taalkracht (‘The Force of Language’), part of Summa.
The programme is intended for people who want to work but need additional support, including benefit recipients and refugees with residency status.
The approach delivers tangible results. In 2025, 80 participants were given the opportunity to prepare for employment through the DAF Ergon Academy. Of these, 53 progressed into regular employment at DAF, PACCAR Parts or other employers in the Brainport region.
A distinctive approach
According to the SER, the DAF Ergon Academy stands out through its combination of collaboration and visible results. “The Academy helps people who face barriers to employment move towards sustainable work in the Brainport region and shows what can be achieved when education, social support organisations and industry join forces.”
A wealth of talent in the Brainport region
“Above all, this award recognises the Academy’s participants and everyone who works every day to create opportunities for people,” DAF, Ergon and Summa said. “We see a wealth of talent in the Brainport region. By combining guidance, practical experience and education, we help people take the next step towards sustainable employment.”
